Wheelchair access throughout the house

The premises are located close to the waterfront and town centre with very little difference in elevation to either of them. Unfortunately, we cannot offer private parking but usually there is space along the street in front of the house with a level approach to the front door. There is only a slight ramp up within the rebate area of the door itself. A door phone is within easy reach and you can call us any time for assistance if needed.

When planning the ground floor layout, we took advice from The National Rehabilitation Board. All doors on the ground floor are at least 75cm (29 1/2 inches) wide. A small side lobby off the entrance hall leads to our accessible accommodation consisting of one room with a single bed "Boa Esperanca" and one room with 2 single beds "Eagle". Both rooms have space enough for a turning circle of 1.5m (59 inches). The adjacent bathroom for these 2 rooms also has a turing circle of 1.5m (59 inches ) and features a drive under wash hand basin, a toilet with 1 vertical and 1 horizontal grab rail on one side and a hinged support rail on the other. The drive-in shower is equipped with a removable seat with one vertical and one horizontal grab rail.

"Eagle" and "Boa Esperanca" have a remote control TV, direct dial phone, Tea/Coffee making facilities, a hairdryer, and Wash hand basin, a lower set of coats hooks and fixtures to lower the rail for the clothes hangers in the wardrobes.

The "Messroom" where breakfast is served is just across the hall and has enough free space for manoeuvring. Wheelchair users who have stayed with us in the past were all very happy with our facilities.
